RECALL ROUNDUP: Chevy, GMC, Ford, BMW all issue recalls

300K Chevrolet, GMC pickups recalled

About 300,000 Chevrolet Silverados and GMC Sierras are being recalled because of an exhaust overheating problem that can cause engine fires. The recall is of 2014 model year pickups. GM plans to notify owners and will repair the trucks for free.

Ford recalls nearly 30K crossovers for fuel leaks

Ford Motor Co. is recalling 27,933 Edge crossovers because a damper in the fuel line could crack and cause fuel leaks. The recall involves Edges from the 2012 and 2013 model years with 2.0-liter engines.

BMW recalls motorcycles for fire hazard

BMW is recalling more than 50,000 motorcycles from model years 2005-2012 to fix a a fuel leak that can spark a fire.

Sears, Kmart recall space heaters

Sears and Kmart are recalling more than 42,000 fan heaters because a broken heater mount can cause the units to overheat and catch fire. The company has received at least seven reports of the appliances overheating and smoking and/or catching fire.

Durango added to Jeep Grand Cherokee fire probe

U.S. safety regulators are adding the Dodge Durango to an investigation of ceiling fires in Jeep Grand Cherokees. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says the probe now covers more than 593,000 SUVs from the 2011 through 2013 model years.

The agency says an analysis of Chrysler data shows 52 possible fires and three injuries. Customers reported minor overheating or flames. Investigators are focusing on an electrical short. The Durango was added because it has the same ceiling and visors as the Grand Cherokee.

The agency began the investigation in August but so far, no recall has been ordered.
